Keeping things sorted

In the name of procrastinating I made a new folder to save some papers that need to be stamped, signed in Granada sometime next week.

I always misplace these things, or find out that there is just one piece of paper missing and we have to go back for it . So I make these folders to keep everything together.
And  this way every project gets its own folder.

Procrastinating…..with organizing the room this stuff gets made in.

In the pictures you can´t see all that much, but the tables are still loaded with fabric, T-shirts, jeans scraps, magazines and so much more!

So in a little corner I made this folder out of :

some cardboard
masking tape
 a piece of fabric
 prints from the Graphic Fairy
Modge Podge ( and a cheap version of that )
Magazine scraps
Washi Tape
Embroidery thread
Paperclips
And anything you happen to run into that fits with the theme

Mark the A4 size and cut to size ( leaving a bit of extra space around it) including the sides that get folded over.
Cut the front to size. ( that would be very similar to you A4 size)

With masking tape stick a piece of fabric in the middle, one on the back and one on the front side, so it will open a million times without tearing. I find that any synthetic fabric works best.
I also taped the outsides up with masking tape to paint with acrylic paint.

Started to glue prints in the inside

Painted the front and glued some more
From here on it´s just building it up with what ever makes you happy.

Me, what makes me happy?  PINK and BLUE and this thing called Ephemera.
Old typography, brownish old fashion paper, handwriting, water color drawings
 paper tearing lines
That is what makes me happy!

This is the  out side back and front at some stage.

The inside

Started to add some Washi tape, scraps of painted paper and magazines.
Washi tape is perfect to hide the lines between one and the other paper or paint line.

I used a bit of watercoloring to blend the flower in with the background and Modge Poged it to seal it.

And the back with the big bird as well

There are no rules and so you are free to stick what ever you want on it.
Take a few days to let it dry completely between layers and look at it with fresh eyes.

I secured the corner  with these little metal split pins

To me this the best way to relax, you can´t go wrong!
Coz if you do, you look for something to glue over it and it´s a legit reason to bring out all the stamps, inks, paints, and what have you.
I kinda like it when it gets a bit messy and the table fills up with all your stuff :-)

For some reason my cats like it just the way it is….And a little peek of what my table looks like!

Moving on…

Made so little paperclip tassels to keep things separated

Made an elastic band to keep it closed

Made two little openings, pushed the elastic band through stitched it together by hand and put a little button on the connection. This is how it looks at the back.

And this is the front.
All done…for now.
When I come across something that would fit perfect with this folder I will glue it on somewhere!

Al ready to be filled up!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. That's quiet an idea, I am also passionate about things like this and try to make the best of things within the house. Like creating cushion covers off old curtains.

    1. Hi Amber, thanks for stopping by! Almost every thing I make is recycled around here, living in a tiny village far from the shops makes you look at things in a whole different way :-) Currently working on a plaid from redundant jeans and t-shirts.

  3. What a pretty folder! Love the combination of old pictures and pretty paper scraps. I have used magazine snippets and sealed it with clear contact paper, but I definitely have to try mod podge. Pink and blue - so on board with that! =)

    1. You should try it, it´s so easy and seals your project nice and clear. The cheap version I use is just white glue mixed with water. For bigger projects that don´t need a perfect finish I use this because, well, it´s cheaper… .But it dries up a bit different and a bit more streaky in my experience. And so for this project? PERFECT! no perfection needed :-)
