All buttoned up

My plaid is all buttoned up!

After a series of friends coming over for the first time this week, that means a tour throughout the house and outside, that means cleaning and making sure everything is in it´s place I  FINALLY managed to finish this up.

After disaster struck a few days ago I had to rethink the whole thing and asked for help because I could not decide on what to do next.
It´s in my nature to leave it lying around until I finally put it away and never look at it again.
So by asking What Now?
I forced myself to finish it as soon as possible  before it disappeared to "never look at it again land"
 This is what I did:

It has two sides again.
The buttoned side is a black and white fabric that now together with the 4 holed buttons looks a bit like an old fashioned men´s raincoat. I kinda like that.

The other side is fleece, Warm, soft and comfy.
In between there is a cheap duvet that I cut to size to make it more sturdy and fluffy.
It´s now a little big thicker then a quilt.
I stitched it all together in one go, left a bit open, turned it inside out and finished the last bit by hand.
Then made a stitch line  6 cm from the sides to help it keep it´s shape.
Just a little smaller then a 1 person duvet, it is easier to use while sitting in a chair watching television.
But can also be used to keep your feet warm in bed.

The buttons have embroidery floss to give it some color and at the same time make it easier on the fleece side to finish.

Because it´s fleece I did not want buttons on that side to keep it soft and cozy.
Instead I used the floss to make some little colorful knots.

It was hard to make pictures and see the whole thing and still see details so here are some close ups.

As I mentioned here, I had this plan to have pom poms all around but that did not work for me so left them out.
And as it turned out I like the simple outcome now.

All and all it did not take very long to make this one.
I just had it laying around for more then 6 months or so….

Thank you Laura ( I you have a blog, please let me know!), Anja and Anikó for your input!
Really appreciate it!
It made me feel responsible to finish it right away.
And that´s a GOOD thing!

Now I´m thinking I might post a "to do" list for you all to see and make comments on if they are not done yet :-)
Or not.

Ok! another project down, lots more to go!

Thank you for stopping by here and hope to see you back soon.

  1. Wow, this plaid definitely is a stunner! Love the dark grey fabric, it looks so effortlessly elegant. And I love the solution that you found for the broken button, the little thread knots in bright colors definitely make it pop!
