We have been so busy with organizing and getting things ready for the new holiday apartment in the north of Spain that it´s been a bit overwhelming at times. So many decisions to make all at once. And you know how it works with decision making one decision has impact on the next and the next and so on But I am so excited about doing this decorating, getting to make all these mood boards to get an idea of what goes well together and where to get it.
It´s good to be back home and look at it from a distance and feeling more organized. The big stuff has been ordered now and we have to wait until Spain gets back into working mode.
If you ever thought that stopping all business in august was a myth, a joke…. think again, it´s real. It does happen! Factories that make furniture shut down and delivering companies do the same. So it takes at least 4 weeks more to get things delivered on top of actually making them.
I can however show you a color scheme for the sofa and chairs and the actual dining table!
The apartment has laminate flooring throughout in a somewhat dark color, not my choice at all, but ya gotta deal with it! same goes for the windows, they have dark frames, again not my choice…
It has a small balcony and one very big window and some smaller ones in the living room. It´s on a corner so there are windows to the side as well. Being a bit overlooked and thinking of doing something with special plastic for those windows.
The dining table is from a store called Kibuc. It´s a very basic table really, it´s white and has a glass top. It extends very cleverly into a table for 6. It´s a store that can be found only in the north of Spain, and by now means is it my favorite store but I am really happy to find at least some thing that I could actually touch and feel before buying!
The dining chairs however, funny as this may sound I can not show you….they are from Ikea…..and I cannot seem to find it anywhere online!! We bought them in France ( can you believe that was closer by then the Spanish one!) and are called Erland.
Maybe it was from last years collection or something…. but they are pretty basic white with chrome legs.
This is the color scheme for the big stuff, although it very difficult to see the exact color from a picture, let alone a picture of a catalog it´s very basic, so the accessories can be colorful and bright. A neutral color for the sofa, grey, beige, greenish and the 2 chairs pick up on those tones but are slightly darker in total. The 2 chairs have both a small matching footstool and have a bit of a bonus…. they recline. Did not notice it when we saw them but once in them it won my HB over to go for these. The thing is they are a full chair but are not as big as most living room chairs they are smaller and have smaller armrests.
To bad I can´t show you, again they are not in the catalog or online….Somehow we ended up with the leftover collections!
To go with the sofa and chairs I choose tree round coffee tables 2 white ones for the center in different sizes and one to go in the corner in a yellow tone. These tables come with grey legs.
Here you can see the flooring, it´s a bit of a dark oak kinda color.
So to go with all this I made these 3 mood boards. With things that are almost all available online or in stores I can get to from here.
What do you think? The top one is my favorite at the moment, I know the second one is to frilly for the hubster, he prefers the third one. Except for that shabby table, he hates that kind of stuff :-(
So now you know what I´ve been so busy with for the last couple of weeks!
That has absolutely nothing to do with the " pressure " of taking 3 pictures a day…. Yes it´s a bit addictive! I joined another group for taking a nature picture every day, no list, just anything you like. And instagram one called #thedailyprompt by the Creature Comfort blogger EZ.
And how are you spending your summer? new things happening for you? or are you happy with things just as they are? If so, Lucky you Enjoy it!
